As a neuroscientist and meditator, Emilio Emilio Soto Soto approaches the world from both scientific and spiritual perspectives. He believes that most of existence lies beyond our perception, even when it is right in front of us—or even a part of us. Join him at the Loveland Frogman Festival, where he invites you to explore the intersections of storytelling, cryptozoology, mind training, game design, the paranormal, spirituality, and neuroscience as a way to foster community and expand our understanding of reality.
About Emilio:
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Soto Soto earned his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley. He has taught courses and delivered lectures on creating a scientific mindset, general neuroscience, and the limitations of current scientific understanding, including in Dr. David Presti’s courses “Drugs and the Brain” and “Brain, Mind, and Behavior” at UC Berkeley. He is also a Vajrayana meditator in the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism and serves as a board member of the Ewam Choden Tibetan Buddhist Center in Kensington, California. Through Cryptid Camp, Emilio seeks to connect the trading card game (TCG) world with concepts that empower players to transform their perceptions for the achievement of greater happiness and growth while drawing empowerment from legends and philosophies from around the world.
